Heather Ramsay

Hi, I'm Heather Ramsay and I've been employed here at Fitness Layne since January.  My employment here has given me a great opportunity to share my passion for a healthy and active lifestyle with others.  Since making a career switch to the field of fitness, I've experienced a personal feeling of reward in educating and seeing others achieve their healthy goals.

I started my career in fitness about 4 years ago by pursuing and receiving a certification for Cardio and Step Aerobic instructor through the YMCA.  By taking on and teaching a combination of aerobic and strength conditioning classes, 4 times a week, part-time, I took my first steps toward switching gears and making a positive change in my physical and mental well-being with exercise and diet.  Seeing my body transform by shedding those few extra pounds, feeling more energized and alive, and increasing muscle tone, I became more driven to take on fitness full-time.  Therefore, I continued on and received my certification as a Personal Trainer through the YMCA.  Taking on more classes and building a good clientele base in personal training, my experience increasingly grew by teaching and educating others in fitness.

I'm currently doing one-on-one personal training, instructing small group sessions (2-6 people), teaching an interval class held here at Fitness Layne, and teaching an aerobic and strength class over at Goodrich for some of their employees and spouses.  I'm also currently working on receiving my second nationally accredited certification in personal training through ACE (American Council of Exercise).  My other passions in life would be my family and friends, my faith in God, softball, my beloved dog "Daisy", and continually educating myself through reading and being open to new and different life experiences.

I would say I've finally found my discipline in life with fitness.  I've discovered on a personal level, and by helping and seeing others, how important it is both physically and emotionally to maintain an active lifestyle with exercise and diet.  Seeing others reach those goals is what keeps myself, as a trainer, driven to keep enriching my mind with knowledge so I can continue to share and lead those down the same path to a healthier life.
